Orson Bean was born by the name Dallas Frederick Burrows in Burlington, Vermont, the United States of America to Marian Ainsworth (née Pollard) and George Frederick Burrows. He is an American by nationality and belongs to the white ethnicity.

After his high school, Bean joined the United States Army in 1946 and he was stationed in Japan. He served in the military for two years. In 1952, he appeared in the TV series Broadway Television Theatre as an actor starring the role of Erwin Trowbridge.

Orson Bean also starred in the TV drama series Westinghouse Studio One in 1952. Though he blacklisted by the Hollywood movie studios in the late 1950s, he got his rise in fame as an actor after being nominated in Broadway's 1962 Tony Award. He was also the long-time panelist on the television game show, To Tell the Truth.

Orson who served as the founding member of The Sons of the Desert in 1964, is married thrice in his life. On the 2nd of July 1956, Orson married Rain Winslow; an actress whose real name is Jacqueline de Sibour. They welcomed a daughter, Michele Bean before their divorce in 1962.

After Orson dissolved his first married life, he began his love affairs with Carolyn Maxwell and began dating her. Maxwell is an actress and fashion designer, famous for her role in the movies like Tattletales and Black Mirror.
