T C Flintlock 'Lock' question His only question was that the hammer had a 'wiggle' to it, even though the hammer screw was tight. I checked my T C and it has a 'wiggle' to the hammer as well even though the screw is tight.

This lock is identical to the small Siler flintlock but is made with a percussion plate and hammer. The lock plates are identical in size and are interchangeable.
The small Siler lock fits the same time period (1770-1790) as the large Siler lock. The smaller size makes this lock ideal for pistols of this period or smaller rifles. The original Siler lock is a copy of the Germanic style, hand forged locks used by mid to late 18th century gun makers. This style of lock is commonly found on 1770 to 1790 period rifles made by well known makers such as Dickert, Haines, Beck, and many others.

During the percussion era locks of this type were widely available and were used in an equally wide variety of rifles. Mountain, Southern, Trade, Ohio and Indian Rif1es would all have been made with this lock. Almost any rifle dating from the late 1830′s through the end of the nineteenth century could have been made with style of lock.During the percussion era locks of this type were widely available and were used in an equally wide variety of rifles. FOR SALE: L&R Flint Lock Model #RPL 03 to fit T/C Hawken, Renegade, etc.
New, unfired, totally unused, with original paperwork and instructions. These locks are made as an upgrade for Thompson/Center flintlocks, and have stronger springs, a tighter fitting, more weather proof frizzen and also hold the flints more securely thanks to the ridges inside the jaws. Some people also prefer the more authentic leaf springs to the T/C coil springs. Once you handle and cock one of these, the OE feel flimsy! L&R sells their locks unfinished and ready to brown, blue or polish.

I actually bought this lock for a Lyman. When I finally got around to installing it, I discovered that the store had sold me the wrong lock, but, it was too late to return it.
FYI, L&R sells all of their locks with a long, uncut sear. The sear on this lock has already been shortened to match the length of the sear on my Lyman, but, it should be the same as the T/C’s We can compare measurements if you want to be sure. I shortened the sear so the lock would fit in the mortice and then discovered the lock didn’t match the opening. The cheapest price I can find for these is $148. I will sell for $130 shipped.
